Description:
Sterogyl Oral Solution is a Vitamin D indicated for the prevention or treatment of vitamin D deficiency, from infants to adults. This treatment for vitamin D deficiency is particularly effective in the context of rickets, osteomalacia and neonatal hypocalcemia.
How to take Sterogyl Vitamin D oral solution?
Oral route. 1 drop = 400 IU of vitamin D2 (= 10 µg of crystallized vitamin D).
To open the bottle, turn the cap while exerting pressure (child safety). Close the bottle tightly after each use. Do not drink this medicine pure, dilute it in water, milk or fruit juice.
The dosages are as follows:
- Infant receiving milk enriched with vitamin D: Intake of 400 to 1000 IU / day or 1 to 2 drops per day.
- Infant breastfed or not receiving milk enriched with vitamin D and in young children up to 5 years: Oral intake 1000 to 2000 IU / day or 2 to 5 drops per day.
- Adolescent: Oral intake of 400 to 1000 IU / day or 1 to 2 drops in winter.
- Pregnant woman: Oral intake of 400 to 1000 IU / day or 1 to 2 drops per day during the last trimester of pregnancy, when the last trimester of pregnancy begins in winter or in the event of no sun exposure.
- Breastfeeding woman: Oral intake of 400 to 1000 IU / day or 1 to 2 drops per day in winter or in the event of no sun exposure. This contribution covers the needs of the mother but not those of her child, in particular if it was born in winter or in spring to a mother not supplemented with vitamin D.
- Elderly person: Oral intake of 400 to 2000 IU / day or 1 to 5 drops per day.
- Children or adults with digestive pathology: Oral intake of 1000 to 2000 IU / day or 2 to 5 drops per day.
- Children or adults with kidney failure. Oral intake of 400 to 2000 IU / day, ie. 1 to 5 drops per day to ensure sufficient repletion of native vitamin D.
- Children or adults on anticonvulsant treatment: Oral intake of 1500 to 4000 IU / day, or 3 to 10 drops per day.
- Children or adults in the other particular conditions described above: Oral intake of 400 to 1000 IU / day or 1 to 2 drops per day.
- Oral intake of 2000 to 4000 IU / day or 5 to 10 drops for 3 to 6 months. If in doubt about compliance, prefer sequential oral administration.
Composition:
Oral solution (colorless): Ergocalciferol 2,000,000 IU / 100 ml.
Excipients: Hydroquinone, Ethyl alcohol at 96.2 °, Purified water, qs 1 drop.
Excipient (s) with known effect: alcohol. Alcoholic strength by volume of the solution: 90% (v / v). 1 drop contains 400 IU of vitamin D2 and 14 mg of ethanol. 1 ml of oral solution corresponds to 50 drops.

What are the side effects and contraindications?
This Vitamin D should never be used in the event of a history of allergy to one of the constituents, hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, or calcium lithiasis.
Warning: the alcoholic strength of this medication is 90 °, or 14 mg of alcohol per drop.
In order to avoid an overdose of vitamin D, it is important to respect the dosage and to tell your doctor if you are using a treatment that also contains this vitamin, or if you are using milk supplemented with vitamin D.
In case of association with high doses of calcium, or repeated administration and high doses of vitamin D, it is necessary to monitor the level of calcium in the urine, but also in the blood.
Sterogyl oral drops, solution contains small amounts of ethanol, less than 100 mg per dose.
Notes:
- Vitamin D can be taken at any time of the day: during, before, after or between meals.
- To be effective in the treatment of vitamin D deficiency, the intake of vitamin D and calcium must be continuous.
