Description

Activir 5% is indicated for the treatment of localized cold sores outbreaks in adults and children over 6 years of age.

Using advice and opinion:

Administration mode:
Dermal.

  • Start applications at the first itching or burning before the vesicles appear, the treatment being more effective if it is started at the first symptoms announcing a cold sore or cold sore outbreak.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before and after each application of the cream on your cold sore to avoid spreading the infection.
  • Apply the cream with your finger, extending widely around the lesion.
  • Close the dispensing tube or pump properly after use.
  • How to use the pump:
  • It is recommended to carry out at least 3 to 4 slow and complete pressures, so as to prime the pumping device perfectly from the first use and thus ensure optimal delivery of the product.

Dosage:
Apply the cream on the herpetic lesions and around the lesions, 5 times a day, each application being spaced at least 3 to 4 hours and without nighttime application.

Frequency of administration:
Applications should be spread over the day, with an interval of at least 3 to 4 hours between two applications.
For example, apply the cream in the morning after breakfast, at noon after lunch, after tea, in the evening after dinner, in the evening before bedtime.

Duration of the treatment:
The duration of treatment should not exceed 5 days, without medical advice.

Composition:

The active substance is (per 100 g of cream):
Aciclovir: 5.00 g

The other components are:
Propylene glycol, poloxamer 407, sodium laurilsulfate, cetostearyl alcohol, petrolatum, dimethicone 20, liquid paraffin, purified water, glycerol monostearate, macrogol stearate 100.

Precaution for use:

This medication contains propylene glycol and may cause skin irritation.
If there is no scarring after 5 days of treatment or worsening of your cold sore : Stop treatment and consult your doctor immediately.

In the event of a cold sore outbreak, a few hygienic precautions are necessary to protect those around you from the risk of virus transmission.
In addition to your treatment, to avoid transmission of the virus, you must comply with the following hygiene rules:

  • Avoid close contact, a kiss for example, with your entourage.
  • NEVER KISS A CHILD.
  • Take the advice of your pharmacist or doctor in case of doubt about the nature of your injury.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly in case of contact with the lesion.
  • During treatment, in order not to spread the lesions, do not rub your eyes or your eyelids with your hands and if you wear contact lenses, never moisten them with your saliva.
  • Avoid touching or scratching the lesions.
  • In case of another localization of your herpes attack, never use this cream, take the advice of your doctor.
